The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has finally started the process to appoint teachers and open admission to the Islamabad Model School (primary) in Soan Garden.

The building of the school was completed four years ago but the classes could not be started due to a dispute between the FDE and the contractor over the construction of an RC (reinforced concrete) wall. The FDE was of the view that the contractor should build the RC wall on the rear of the building because there was a depression. But the contractor built a simple wall which was not safe.

Patron-in-chief of the residents’ welfare association Mansha Sahi said last month the residents paid the cost of the wall to the FDE after which the latter announced to start the classes from August 11.

“Principal Imtiaz Kosar and six teachers have been appointed in the school. The principal is making arrangements to start the classes,” he said.

Joint Secretary CADD Rafique Tahir said all the issues had been resolved and the classes in the school would be started after the summer vacations.
