Separate encounters kill three gang war members in Karachi

KARACHI: At least three gang war members were killed on Thursday in separate police and Rangers encounters in the Napier and Lyari areas of Karachi.

Upon receiving a tip-off about the presence of suspects in the city's Napier area, police conducted a raid which resulted in an exchange of fire with suspects. The exchange led to the killing of Kashif alias mota was killed.

According to police, the deceased was a member of the Sohail Dada gang war group and was allegedly involved in murder, attempted murder and other serious crimes.

Meanwhile in Lyari’s Baghdadi area, two alleged gang war members were killed in an encounter with Rangers personnel.

The two were associated with Lyari’s Shiraz Comrade group and were allegedly involved in targeted killings and a number of other serious crimes.

A huge cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from their possession.

The incidents come weeks after Ghaffar Niazi, a gangster associated with the gang war in Lyari, was killed in a police encounter in Lyari Town's Moosa Lane.

Karachi, the largest metropolitan city of Pakistan, is riddled with targeted killings, gang wars, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism.

Targeted operations led by Rangers’ forces with the support of police are ongoing in the city under a directive issued by the federal government against criminals already identified by federal, military and civilian agencies.
