KARACHI, July 17: Founder of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain may visit India to give a boost to the ongoing process of normalization of relations between Pakistan and India, says a party press release.
The MQM’s coordination committee said on Thursday that it had decided to send its own goodwill delegation to India for the purpose. According to the press release, a special committee would be constituted to finalize the tour.
It appreciated Maulana Fazalur Rahman’s goodwill visit to India, describing it as a “significant step forward”. It also welcomed the the statement of the MMA leader calling upon public representatives from both the countries to take an initiative towards accelerating the normalization process.
The MQM coordination committee pointed out that for many years, Altaf Hussain had been receiving invitations from various Indian organizations and institutions, including the Sajjada Nashin of Dargah Khwaja Nizamuddin Aulia and Moinuddin Chishti. However, it added, owing to someunavoidable circumstances, Mr Hussain could not undertake a visit.
Besides striving for the normalization process, it said, the special committee would finalize arrangements for Mr Hussain’s possible visit to India.
