Adnan, Tabish help Zahoor GBSS clinch title

KARACHI, Oct 11: Spinners Adnan Ahmed and Tabish Nawab shared eight wickets between them to bowl Zahoor Government Boys Secondary School to eight-wicket victory over Shaheen Secondary in the final of the Siemens Inter-School cricket tournament at UBL Sports Complex Ground Wednesday.

Left-arm spinner Adnan snapped up four wickets for just eight runs in 7.2 overs and off-spinner Tabish Nawab grabbed four wickets for ten runs in eight overs to spin out Shaheen Secondary for paltry 88 in 36.2 overs.

Zahoor GBSS in reply mustered 89 for the loss of two wickets in 15.4 overs. Opener Jibran Bashir finishing 29 not out with three boundaries and fellow opener Ibrahim Akhtar cracked three fours and a six in his 46.

Organizers presented complete cricketing attire worth Rs 20,000 to winning team and Rs.15,000 cricket gears to runners- up school.

On the basis of the performance in the competition PVCA also picked 20 promising cricketers for free one month coaching and training at the Customs Cricket Academy to be conducted in December.

Bowlers: Tabish Nawab (Zahoor GBSS), Safiuddin (DHA SKBZ), Adnan Ahmed (Zahoor GBSS), Farrukh Nawab (Pak Al-Jadeed), Naeem Ansari (GBSS Provincial), Ahmed Wasti (St.Paul’s), Azhar Shah (St.Pats), Ali Iftikhar (BVS Parsi).

Wicketkeepers: Zeeshan Abrar (Zahoor GBSS), Moinuddin (GBSS Saudabad-1).

Man of the Final: Adnan Ahmed, GBSS.

Man of the tournament: Mohammad Asif, Shaheen School.
