KARACHI, July 14: Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar on Monday announced Rs5 million grant for Sindhi Language Authority (SLA) to expand and execute its programmes and activities.
The CM, while talking to SLA Chairman Dr Mohammad Qasim Bughio, who called on him at CM House, lauded the role of the SLA, Sindhi Adabi Board and Institute of Sindhology in promoting Sindhi language and called for more organized working of these institutions.
He said the non-gazetted employees of the provincial government would be provided facilities to participate in training courses of Sindh language. The decision regarding increments would be implemented, he added.
The CM also praised the SLA for developing Sindhi computer software and a website.
He said that Sindhi language was one of the world’s few oldest languages and observed that books on each and every subject and literature were available in Sindhi language. The government would take concrete and comprehensive steps to promote the language and its literature, he pledged.
Dr Bughio told the CM that a Sindhi dictionary, a Sindhi-Urdu dictionary and many other books were in the process of publication. He also apprised the CM of the problems being faced by the SLA.
Dr Bughio presented him a set of books which were published by the Authority.
RECRUITMENT: As many as 25,000 people would be provided jobs in health, education and police departments in Sindh, according to Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar who was talking to a six-member delegation of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F.
The delegation, led by Dr Khalid Mahmood Soomro, discussed with the CM problems pertaining to unemployment and law and order in the province as well as the Thal Canal project.
Mr Mahar told the delegation that the provision of 25,000 jobs would provide relief to the jobless youths. He made it clear that the jobs would be provided strictly on merit basis.
He held out the assurance that advertisements for the vacancies would be released soon.
Regarding law and order, he said that the situation in the entire province was satisfactory and pointed out that the strategy and efforts by the government and administration had yielded positive results.
The CM also informed the delegation of the measures taken against anti-social elements to ensure peace in the province.
GERMAN ENVOY: The Consul-General of Germany in Karachi, Ms Verena Graffin Von Roctem, called on Sindh Chief Minister, Sardar Ali Mohammad Khan Mahar, at the Chief Minister House on Monday.
According to an official statement, she discussed matters of mutual interests with the chief minister.
The chief minister apprised her of the priorities of the provincial government. He also provided her information about the investment being made in the province and the proposed projects in tourism and culture sectors. — APP
