7 killed in road accidents

CHAKWAL: Seven people were killed while four were injured in two separate traffic accidents.

The first incident occurred on Chakwal-Talagang Road roundabout at 10am when a passenger van rammed into a car coming from the opposite direction near Nakka Kahoot village.

Following the crash, the van caught fire which led to the death of two women. Four people were injured.

“The van caught fire due to short-circuit,” Investigation Officer (IO) Nisar Ahmed at Saddar Police Station told Dawn.

“One body was identified as that of Asmat Shaheen Akhtar from Wanhar village, Talagang tehsil. The other woman is yet to be identified,” the IO said.

The evening witnessed another tragedy when five members of a family were killed on the motorway.

Mohammad Asif Munir, a resident of Taxila, was on his way to Khushab with his wife and three children. When the car was passing by Balkassar interchange, a bus hit the family’s vehicle from behind. All occupants of the car were killed on the spot. The dead were

identified as Mohammad Asif Munir, his wife Ghulam Sughra, three children Talha Hussain, 12, Mariha Umaima, 10 and Musa Zakharaf, 3.
