KARACHI, July 12: The four-year-old roan colt Your Pleasure, is the day’s best bet, when the Summer Gymkhana Meeting gets underway on Sunday at the Karachi Racecourse.
After two wins on the trot, Your Pleasure finished third, 8 1/2 lengths behind Canon King and Deniro two weeks ago and apart from Deniro and perhaps Bull Dancer, the roan seems to be the only form animal in the fourth race where 17 runners will be vying for the top honours going over the sprinting distance of five furlongs.
When Your Pleasure walks lazily into the paddock, one gets the impression that he is sleepy with his eyes half close. But once he gets into the starting gate, Your Pleasure is a different cup of tea altogether.
With stable rider Kashif Ali in the saddle, Your Pleasure will present owner Khalid Ali with another stunning winner, passing the winning post ahead of Bull Dancer, pulled hook, line and sinker last Wednesday, with Love Land and Great Bakht battling it out for the third spot.
A card of eight events have been chalked up for the afternoon’s programme, all going over the distance of five furlongs.
The first race begins at 1.00 p.m.
Another runner that should not lose on Sunday afternoon is the dark bay three-year-old colt Visitor, participating in the third race in a big field of 18 runners, going all out to make it two winners in a row for owner Akhter Ali.
Visitor, should be chased throughout the race by Khan Baba and Maha Sagar.
The same could be said about Miss Zainab Ali and Imran Ali’s half bred four-year-old bay filly Canon Again, going all out to register her fourth triumph in a row in the sixth event, with jockey M. Mazhar handling the reins once again.
In this field of 13 runners vying for the spoils, Canon King should be followed home by Shah Khan and Wonder Thunder with Prince Of Arabia completing the frame.
In the opening event, Prism Of Life, finishing third in his last two starts is fancied in our columns to overcome the likes of Law Of Nature and Noor-Un-Nisa, with Grey Boy, Even Top and Thousand Up joining the fray.
In the next race, Win Today, owned and trained by Nazir, will be on song to triumph once again, challenged throughout the five furlong journey by Sajan Black and Rukhsar, with Lucky Lover completing the frame.
Faisal Farooq’s thoroughbred bay horse Neelam Taab trained by Moheyuddin, should win the fifth race of the afternoon for the mere asking, with Mystical, Field Prince and Maharaja finishing the race in that very order.
If all goes well, the game bay horse Roberto Carlos Fan also trained by Moheyuddin, should come out on tops in the seventh event, after a keen tussle throughout the race with Defence Academy and Satellite Star, although the chestnut horse had a poor run last Wednesday in the main event, finishing off the board.
The curtain should unfurl in the eighth race, with M. Ateeq’s bay five-year-old horse The Club Champion on song to complete a hat-trick of victories.
In this field of 10 runners with Sweet Touch and Gambling Girl penalised to carry heavy imposts of 10 stones on her backs, Yahya Shahid’s game bay colt Donatello should finish second ahead of The Champion Strides.
