FAISALABAD, July 10: IGP Masood Shah on Thursday suspended the Peoples Colony SHO and issued warning to its ASP and directed him to report to the Central Police Office, Lahore.

The IGP also directed DIG Altaf Qamar to submit him a report about the physical fight between SHO Mehmood Sardar and ASP Shahzad Sultan within two days.

Meanwhile, SP (City) Tauqeer Hayat recorded the statement of seven eyewitnesses. ASP Shahzad Sultan also appeared before the inquiry officer and submitted his written statement. The ASP claimed in his statement that he had called SHO Mehmood Sardar for explaining the harsh and indecent language he used with the help-seekers of police. He further claimed that the SHO used abusive language against him and asked him to shut up.

The ASP said the remarks of ‘shut up’ and abusive language forced me to reciprocate in the same coin. The SHO further lost his temper and started torturing me physically, the ASP claimed.

The others who recorded their statements were the area shopkeepers. They were allegedly taken into custody by the SHO without fulfilling legal formalities, which reportedly was one of the reasons behind the fight between two police officials.

The SP (City) after recording the statement of seven witnesses adjourned the proceedings till July 12 and directed the SHO to appear before him on that date.
