LAHORE, Dec 16: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam amir Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday said the future American policy towards Pakistan could well be imagined in the light of Mr Collin Powell’s condemnation of the attack on Indian parliament.
In a statement issued here, he said like Pakistan’s response to the attack on Indian parliament, Taliban too had sought evidence of Osama bin Laden’s involvement in terrorism on America but they could not be saved from the international coalition’s wrath.
He said he had cautioned President Gen Pervez Musharraf about the apprehension that like Afghanistan, Pakistan too was on the American and Indian agenda.
The Maulana said instead of running a mudslinging campaign against the leaders of religious parties, the government should formulate a national policy taking into confidence all national leaders so that the country could be saved from another crisis.
Maulana Fazl said religious leaders had always rendered sacrifices for the solidarity and integrity of the country and they will also play their role in protecting the country.
He said right now the country required a serious and responsible posture so that the entire nation could be taken into confidence and turned into a motivated force that could never be defeated.
