Routes lead to oil fields flooded

LARKANA, July 9: The rainwater coming down from the Khirthar mountains has inundated the routes to two oil fields in the area.

The oil fields whose routes have been submerged by water belong to the Pakistan Petroleum Company and the Petronas, a Malaysian company.

When contacted, Kambar Taluka Nazim Sardar Khan Chandio told this correspondent on Wednesday that mountain streams — Mazarani, Khinjee, Dillan, Garilo, Darib and others — had inundated the routes to the oil fields.

Seeking assistance of local people, the Nazim said efforts were being made to restore the temporary routes to the sites.

Meanwhile, District Nazim Khurshid Ahmad Junejo issued show-cause notices to two taluka municipal officers, Abdul Karim Shaikh and Suresh Kumar, for failing to make proper arrangements prior to rains to meet any eventuality. He also sent a warning letter to the taluka Nazim.
