PESHAWAR, July 9: NWFP Minister for Food, Excise and Taxation Fazal-i-Rabbani has said that complying with the directives of Federal Minister for Food and Livestock Yar Mohammed Rind the government of Punjab has agreed to lift the recently imposed ban on transporting wheat from Punjab to other provinces.

Talking to Dawn he said that the federal minister had acknowledged the NWFP  government’s stand against the ban.

“We are thankful to the federal government for recognizing our stand and making Punjab revert its decision,” he said.

Mr Rabbani had returned from Islamabad after taking part in a meeting attended by secretaries of food departments of all four provinces, federal secretaries of commerce and Minfal and senior officers of Pakistan Agricultural Seed Supply Corporation (PASSCO).

He said that the secretary food department Punjab told the meeting that notification to lift restriction on the movement of wheat from Punjab to other provinces would be issued on Thursday.

Mr Rabbani told the meeting that the ban would have hit flour mills of the NWFP.
