KARACHI, July 6: All the seeded teams were leading the bunch after four rounds were completed in the Yousuf Dada Bridge tournament being played at the Aslam Bridge Hall.
However, the national team Allana, after brushing aside Lipton 18-12 in the third round were left to lick their wounds after being trounced by Candyland 25-3.
The credit of victory goes to Candyland’s two pairs Imran Jaka-Khalid Mohiuddin’s bid and made a grand on values. Sultan-Rashid Jafer failed to locate even a minor slam.
Chandna after their first round defeat against Pak Ladies, have made a remarkable comeback. Shutting out Jamal 24-6 in the third round, Chandna outpaced Attackers 25-5 and had the better of Lipton 17-13. Now with 75 points to their credit, Chandna are within striking distance. The dark horses of the tournament, Ahmed IV are in close pursuit with 74 V.P. to join the hopefuls.
Ahmed IV beat Abacus 25-5, in the third round and Shahbad 18-12 in the following round.
Lipton, although losing two matches have notched up 70 V.P. are also within striking distance. But then again on the draw Lipton will have to face Giants, the best team in the country.
Giants collected 22-8 against Pakistan Ladies and then had a 18-12 triumph over Makeshift.
EFU did not perform satisfactorily in the first two rounds but recovered later in the third by breezing past MAQ 20-10 and 25-5 against the Pakistan Ladies team.
Raza have collected 64 V.P. winning their first match against MAQ 19-11 and then playing a draw against Young & Old sharing 1/30 V.P. equally. Shahab with 63 V.P. and Makeshift having 61 V.P., could strike gold with Lady Luck smiling their way.
