FAISALABAD, July 6: Father George Ibrahim was laid to rest in the graveyard of Chak 51 (Khushpur) in Samundari Tehsil, about 45 kilometres from here, on Sunday.

The Catholic priest was gunned down by half a dozen men when he was sleeping in his Renala Khurd house near Okara between Friday and Saturday night. He had gone to hospital to inquire about the health of a member of his congregation.

The Bishop of Multan, Andrew Frances, led the memorial service attended by hundreds of Christians from Okara, Sahiwal, Faisalabad and Multan districts.

Condemning the murder of Father Ibrahim, Bishop Frances demanded immediate arrest of the killers.
