BAHAWALPUR, July 6: Low-lying areas in the city and its suburbs were inundated after rain on Saturday and Sunday.

The inundation of kutcha abadis in Model Town and Baghdadul Jadid and some localities of the Walled City exposed the tall claims of TMA about improvements to the sewerage system.

The disruption of power supply added to people’s misery. Rainwater continued to accumulate on streets and roads while heaps of garbage were also not lifted by the TMO sanitation staff due to the holiday on Sunday.

In some areas, electricity was not restored for most of the night due to which a number of local newspapers could not be brought out on Sunday.

According to the Met Office, 12mm of rainfall had so far been recorded, and there were chances of more rain.

The weather has turned pleasant due to rain.
