Three people were killed in Shikarpur district. Two of them were killed when the roof of a house caved in in the Imtiaz Khan Junejo village, while the third was electrocuted in Shikarpur city.
Sohail Solangi and Munnawar Ali Solangi were killed while six others, including Wazir, Dadu, Shahid, Abdul Jabbar, Khadim Hussain and Perwaiz were injured, when the roof caved in.
Karamullah Solangi was electrocuted in Shikarpur city. He was a student of the Madrasa Taj-ul Uloom.
In Shikarpur, in the Mirzapur village, an under-construction building collapsed as a result of which two labourers, Naseer Ahmed Solangi, 21, and Sohail Ahmed, 19, were buried alive underneath the debris and 23 others injured.
All 25 labourers had been working in the ground storey of the building.
When the villagers were trying to remove the debris, another person, Mohammad Ramzan, was electrocuted. He belonged to Waspur Mohalla, Old Sukkur.
A report received from Mirpur Buriro, Jacobabad district, said that a boy, Zahid Ali, was electrocuted when a high tension wire fell on him.
The power supply broke down in Sukkur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Ghotki and Khairpur when several transformers burnt down due to short circuits and several electricity poles were uprooted.
A 25-feet breach developed in the Kingri Minor in the Ghulam Ali Shah village as a result of which the locality of Khokhar Mohalla and a graveyard were inundated. Hundreds of huts collapsed and many people were left shelterless in low-lying areas.
LARKANA: Heavy rainfall lashed Larkana district in the wee hours of Sunday.
It rained from 1:30am till early Sunday morning as a result of which the communication system was badly affected and trees were uprooted. Traffic jams were caused on various roads leading to Larkana.
As soon as it started raining the power went off affecting almost the entire district.
However, the rainfall has provided relief to the farmers who had been impatiently waiting for irrigation water to plant paddy crops, particularly in the command areas of the Dakhan Shakh, Saifullah Magsi branch and SKT branch in Ratodero and Shahdadkot Talukas.
SANGHAR: Rain left two people dead in two villages of Sanghar district on Sunday.
In the Mir Mohammad Kalhoro village, near Shahdadpur, a woman, Abbabzadi, was killed and her husband, Mir Mohammad, was injured when a wall of their house collapsed due to the rain.
Mir was pulled out of the debris and taken to the Taluka Hospital.
In another rain-related incident, a woman was killed while her husband, Rasheed Rind, and sister-in-law were injured when the roof of their house caved in in the Rasheed Khan Rind village, Jam Nawaz Ali Taluka.
However, most people, especially the farming community, heaved a sigh of relief when almost the entire district received light rainfall on Sunday.
Farmers, who had glowing faces, said that the rain would have a positive effect on crops like cotton, chilli, sugarcane, and banana.
NAWABSHAH: The people had to face difficulties due to the power supply being cut off as a result of the rain in Nawabshah district on Sunday morning.
Nawabshah, Daur, Bandhi, 60 Miles, Jam Sahib, Bucheri, Daulatpur, Qazi Ahmed and Sakrand received heavy rainfall.
The people residing in these areas heaved a sigh of relief on seeing the rain. However, they soon became gloomy when the power supply broke down.
DADU: Two people were killed in separate incidents when their huts collapsed as a result of heavy rain in Dadu district.
The wall of a hut collapsed over a man, Ahmed, in the Pipri village as a result of which he was killed on the spot. A woman, Maryam, was injured critically in the incident.
The roof of a hut caved in in the Mukhtiar Nangar village, near Dadu town, as a result of which a woman, Basran Mallah, 42, was killed on the spot, while her husband, Bakhshal, and Shazia, Javed, Anwar and Nabi Bux were injured.
All the injured were admitted to the Civil Hospital Dadu.
Different parts of Dadu district, including Mehar, Radhan, Thariri Mohabbat, New Goth, Sita Road, Phulji, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Mado, Faridabad, Dadu, Johi, Wahi Pandhi, Bhan, Khudabad, Sehwan, Manjhand, Unarpur, Sann, Jamshoro and Kotri, received heavy rainfall.
MIRPURKHAS: Intermittent rainfall damaged huts and inundated roads and streets here on Sunday.
The rainwater flooded houses in Pak Colony, Mir Colony, Hirabad, Lalchandabad and Baloch Para.
The power supply broke down.
Apart from Mirpurkhas, the rain lashed Mirwah, Kot Ghulam Mohammad, Samaro, Kunri Pithoro, Jhuddo, Digri, Naokot, Sufi, Umerkot, Shadi Palli and some parts of Tharparkar district, including Mithi, Diplo, Chelhar, Nagarparkar, Chhachhro, and Islamkot.
BADIN: Badin, Nindo Shehar, Tando Bago, Kadhan, and Khoski received moderate rainfall on Sunday morning.
