PESHAWAR, July 5: The NWFP governor, chief minister and politicians have condemned the act of terrorism in Quetta, and expressed their deep sense of sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the tragic incident.

In their separate statements released here on Saturday, Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani, Awami National Party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan and MPA Sikandar Hayat Sherpao of the PPP (S) condemned the terrorist attack on the imambargah in Quetta.

The governor said the perpetrators of such cowardly act against the innocent people were enemies of both humanity and Islam, who were fulfilling their own agenda to create chaos in Pakistan.

He also urged the people to demonstrate endurance and thwart the evil designs of the enemies.

In a condolence message here on Saturday, Chief Minister Akram Durrani said that terrorism had no place in Islam, adding that Islam was a religion of peace.

He said such crime further strengthen the government’s resolve against anti-social elements, adding that collective efforts were needed to eliminate such anti-state activities.

Expressing solidarity with the government of Balochistan, he hoped that efforts would be made to apprehend criminals involved in the macabre killings.
