LAHORE, July 2: The Punjab government is starting recruitment process from the next week, filling in 25,000 posts mainly on a contract basis.

This was stated by Chief Secretary Hafeez Akhtar Randhawa during a meeting here on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by secretaries of education, finance, health and regulations departments.

The government intends to make regular appointments, if necessary, only after a prior permission from the provincial finance department.

The process has been delayed because of the difference of opinion between the services and regulations departments and the finance department, the latter insisting that all posts should be filled in on a contract basis.

The chief secretary informed the meeting that this would be the first phase of recruitments during which 15,000 posts would be filled in the education department, 5,000 in the health department and 5,000 in other departments.

He directed the finance department to issue guidelines regarding the posts to be filled in on a contract and regular basis.
