LAHORE, July 2: The education department is considering to increase the number of seats in boys and girls colleges in Lahore for admission to first year classes.

The admission to additional seats will also be made purely on merit.

It is learnt that the education department had received several complaints that despite securing first divisions in matriculation annual examination, a majority of students fail to secure admission to colleges owing to limited number of seats.

Meanwhile, education minister Mian Imran Masood has called a meeting of the Punjab education secretary, the special higher education secretary and principals of all colleges in the city on Thursday (today).

The minister has invited the principals to seek their opinion and proposals for maximum increase in the number of seats in city colleges.
