Lahorites flout ban on kites

LAHORE, July 1: Lahorites flouted the kite-flying ban without any let or hindrance on Tuesday

Though kite business came to a standstill on Tuesday with the commencement of the three-month ban imposed on the same by the City District Government, kite flyers did give a damn about the ban.

Almost all kite shops in Mochi and Mori Gate markets and elsewhere remained closed and persons quoting powdered glass on the thread used for kite flying disappeared from the roads. Kites and thread disappeared from hundreds of shops selling it along with other merchandise.

On the other hand, people flouted the ban on kite-flying with impunity in parts of the city like Gulberg’s industrial area, Samanabad, Icchra and Islamia Park. There were power outages as ususal.

Though city police claimed to have arrested over a dozen people, they fail to name any of the accused.
