PESHAWAR, Dec 15: The young children of bureaucrats and moneyed people are not only creating public nuisance but also are endangering the lives of pedestrians by rash driving on busy roads of the provincial capital.
At present the nuisance is on the rise when people throng Eid shopping centres. They come out on their vehicles, including the official cars which create traffic jams on almost all bazaars.
The phenomenon is more common in some bustling spots of the city like the Mall Road, Arbab Road and City Tower in university town.
When contacted, a traffic constable said the most dangerous aspect is the overspeeding. “They do not have the foggiest idea about the traffic rules, endangering the lives of pedestrians.”
Talking on the issue, a student of Peshawar University said it was probably the users of these vehicles, who use official vehicles by their family members.
He said by being sons of officials, they consider themselves above law, adding that they believe that no one can dare stop them despite violating traffic rules. “How a constable can stop the car of an official driven by a bureaucrat’s son and get fired with a single stroke of pen,” he questioned.
The pedestrians have called upon authorities concerned to stop the practice.
