HISTORICAL sights around the world are regularly repaired by governments. There are many historical places in Balochistan but these are badly neglected.

Makran is one of the oldest centres of the Indus Valley civilisation. It has Mirri Fort in Turbat that dates back to 4000 BC. This ancient centre belongs to the pre-Harrapan period of the Indus Valley civilisation.

However, besides a little excavation at the site, no concrete steps have been taken to unearth history and culture. Unfortunately, neither the government nor any NGO has taken any serious action for the preservation of such historical sights.

On the other hand, the local people dig such places in search of hidden treasures and destroy them in that process. These excavations have left a devastating effect on these archaeological sights.

The authorities concerned should take serious action to preserve such sights.
