Trade with Belgium increasing

SIALKOT: Ambassador of Belgium to Pakistan Peter Claes said on Wednesday that trade between Belgium and Pakistan was growing at a faster pace, and it may touch $1 billion till the start of 2015.

Speaking to business community leaders at a meeting of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), he urged Sialkot exporters to take GSP plus status as a challenge and concentrate on quality production to meet the standards fixed for international trade, particularly by the European Union.

He termed Pakistan a safe, peaceful and an ideal country for foreign investment.

The trade between the two countries remained at 298 million Euros during 2013.

Earlier, the ambassador visited some leading industrial units in Sialkot.

The Belgian ambassador hailed elimination of child labour from Sialkot’s soccer ball industry, besides the unique export culture of the city.

He hailed Pakistan government’s industrial and economic policies and stressed on implementation of such policies.
