Colourful ceremonies mark Balochi culture day

QUETTA: Colourful ceremonies were held in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan to mark the Balochi culture day.

The largest such ceremony was organised by a Balochi TV channel, Vash, on the lawns of the Quetta Metropolitan Corporation’s building.

Hundreds of people with women and children attired in colourful and traditional Balochi dresses attended the function.

Folk singers and artistes enthralled the audience with their performances, especially traditional Balochi dance by youngsters wearing turbans used by Bugti, Rind, Marri and other tribesmen.

Health Minister Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch, Sardar Mohammad Saleh Bhootani, Rasheed Baloch, Dr Ishaq Baloch and intellectuals and poets were also present.

Saleh Baloch, Mr Bhootani and Rasheed Baloch said on the occasion that people’s enthusiasm was proof of the fact that Baloch loved their culture and traditions.

Our Correspondent in Dera Murad Jamali adds: Functions were held in Dera Murad Jamali, Dera Allahyar, Usta Mohammad and other towns of the province.

Hundreds of people in traditional dresses paraded different roads in Dera Murad Jamali. They were led by PPP’s provincial president Mir Sadiq Umrani and National Party leader Taj Baloch.

The marchers carried placards and banners inscribed with slogans about the Balochi culture.

Greeting the marchers, Mr Umrani said it was a great day when the Baloch people were celebrating their culture day. Despite many problems Baloch people had not forgotten their traditions and culture, he added.

Similar reports were also received from Khuzdar, Kalat, Mastung, Chagai, Noshki, Dalbandin, Kharan and Hub.
