SARGODHA, June 29: Despite awaiting denotification of Bhalwal tehsil, political activities have gained momentum in Kot Momin and Bhalwal tehsils for the elections of Tehsil Nazims and Naib Nazims.

Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had declared Kot Momin as tehsil on June 8, bifurcating Bhalwal tehsil to ‘victimize’ its Tehsil Nazim Mian Naseer Ahmed. In the teeth of the government, Mian Naseer had fielded his son Mian Qadeer against government-sponsored candidate Chaudhry Zahid Iqbal Sandhu in the bye-elections of PP-30 on June 23.

The chief minister is reportedly not only taking revenge from Mian Naseer but also planning to punish former MPA Haji Afzal Chan of Mandi Bahauddin by attaching Pind Maku area with Bhalwal tehsil. The Pind Maku area now falls in Mandi Bahauddin.

It is learnt that in the next couple of days, the Bhalwal tehsil will be denotified to avoid litigation threat from its present Tehsil Nazim who has been stopped from convening a budget session of the Bhalwal tehsil.

Sillanwali Tehsil Nazim Rana Munawar Ghaus is also on the hit list of the government because he had won the legal battle in court although no-trust motion was approved against him and the House had deprived him of exercising his power as Tehsil Nazim. The Sillanwali Tehsil Nazim is being opposed by a group of former provincial minister Chaudhry Farrukh Javed Ghuman.

In Kot Momin tehsil, the two groups headed by provincial Colonies Minister Mian Manazir Ali Ranjha and MNA Chaudhry Ghias Ahmed Mela will be given due consideration by the chief minister for the nomination of Tehsil Nazim and Naib Nazim.

Similarly, in Bhalwal tehsil, the Neelibar Group of Industries and anti-Piracha group will play their role to bring their nominees against the candidates of the Piracha group led by former senator Ehsanul Haq Piracha.

Over one dozen members of Bhalwal Tehsil Council have already threatened to resign if the government illegally dethroned Tehsil Nazim Mian Naseer Ahmed.

RIGHTS: : Former Zila Council chairperson Ms Tanzeela Aamer Sultan Cheema has said that women parliamentarians will be deprived of their rights if the opposition continues its demand for the cancellation of the LFO.

She said that women got representation in assemblies under the LFO whereas in the so-called democratic era the seats of women could not be restored.

Parliamentarians had the prudence to differentiate between good and bad and they frustrated the designs of the opposition who was not sincere in strengthening democratic institutions in the country, she said.
