LAHORE, June 28: All recruitments in the Punjab will be made on a contract basis, giving no special concession to any candidate.

If necessary, regular appointments would be made only after special permission by the finance department, said Chief Secretary Hafeez Akhtar Randhawa while presiding over a meeting of administrative secretaries here on Saturday.

He said all appointments would be made on merit and the Punjab Public Service Commission would continue to fill the posts it had been dealing with in the past.

The remaining posts, he said, would be filled by specially constituted recruitment committees, giving no concession to any candidate to ensure merit. He said every department would fill in its vacancies after duly advertising the posts in at least two national newspapers.

Earlier, the information technology secretary briefed the meeting on the e-government. He said over 11,000 officials and officers had been given training through different computer courses.
