BAGRAM AIR BASE, June 27: A United States soldier was killed and two others wounded after being attacked during patrol in Afghanistan’s southeast region, a US military spokesman said on Friday.

The troops were attacked on Wednesday near Gardez, US Air Force Lt-Col Douglas Lefforge said. “One special operations member was killed and two were wounded in the vicinity of Gardez on Wednesday,” the spokesman told newsmen.

US Cent-Com later said the soldier had died of wounds at the air base hospital rather than at the site of the attack.—AFP
