City receives light rain

LAHORE, June 27: Rain brought a welcome relief from extremely muggy conditions in Lahore on Friday.

Clouds developed in late afternoon, but there was no letup for the people till late in the night when rainfall started.

According to the local Met office, the weather had turned sultry because of moisture from Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.

It had forecast light rain in the city as well as in Sialkot, Gujranwala, Jhelum and Gujrat during the next 24 hours. In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 36.4 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 28.5 with 62 per cent humidity in the morning and 58pc in the evening.

The Flood Forecasting Division expected a few thunderstorms of light to moderate intensity over the upper catchments of the Indus, Jhelum and Chenab in Kohat, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala divisions.
