‘Bakhtiar’s death a great loss’

KARACHI, June 27:The legal community on Friday expressed its sorrow over the death of Mr Yahya Bakhtiar, terming it a great loss.

Senior lawyer Mr Abdul Hafeez Lakho, while expressing his personal anguish, said Mr Bakhtiar had suffered a lot for not abandoning his friend, late prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He said that Mr Bakhtiar had ably pleaded Mr Bhutto’s case in the Supreme Court.

Asif Ali Zardari’s counsel Mr Farooq H. Naek and former president of the Sindh High Court Bar Association Mr Abul Inam said that Mr Bakhtiar was “a great and fearless legal mind” and his death had created a void.

APP adds: Acting President Mohammedmian Soomro has expressed shock and grief over the demise of Yahya Bakhtiar, former attorney-general.

In his condolence message, the acting president recounted the valuable services rendered by late Yahya Bakhtiar as an attorney- general and as member of the senate.
