CHAMAN Oct 11: More than 300 people from Punjab and other parts of the country sneaked into Afghanistan from the border town of Chaman on Thursday to join Taliban ranks now engaged in a war with the US.

At least six of them declared their allegiance to a religious outfit, Lashkar-i-Tayyaba, and arrived in Chaman in mini-busses from Quetta.

“We are going to join ranks of our Taliban brothers to take part in the holy war against the United States”, one of them told journalists without disclosing his identity at the border checkpost.

The journalists, who witnessed them sneaking into Afghanistan from Pakistan, also saw Afghan refugees, flocking the border on the other side as the US-led forces intensified bombing on Wednesday night.
