MITHI, June 26: The residents of various Dehs of Tharparkar district have urged the senior officials of the Zakat and Ushr department to take notice of the alleged corrupt practices of the chairmen of Zakat and Ushr committees of their dehs, owing to which scores of deserving people had been deprived of Zakat funds.

Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, Noor Mohammad, Jumo, A. Dad and other residents alleged that Arab Samejo, chairman, Zakat Committee, Deh Vejhiar, Chhachhro Taluka, had been giving Zakat funds to his near and dear ones or to other undeserving persons on receiving bribes.

They further alleged that the DCO, Tharparkar, removed the said chairman from the post on their complaint; however, he was soon reinstated.
