NLF: The provincial president, National Labour Federation (NLF), Rana Mehmood Ali Khan, has expressed grave concern over the bursting of a boiler in the Pakistan Oil Mills, Liaquat Colony, resulting in injuries to several workers.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, he said that this was the third incident in the factory, which was due to the carelessness of the managing director of the factory.

Mr Khan said that the managing director of the factory was a former president of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the chairperson, District Public Safety Commission, and, therefore, he was taking undue advantage of his position.

He alleged that the factory was neither inspected under the labour laws nor were any precautionary measures taken in this unit.

He said that the people of the locality had protested on many occasions for having the factory shifted to some other location but in vain.

The labour leader warned that the factory owner may be very resourceful and influential but he would not be allowed to play with the lives of the workers.

He demanded that legal action should be taken against the managing director of the factory.
