NAWABSHAH, June 26: Daily-wage employees of the PTCL, Nawabshah division, have claimed they have not been paid salaries for the last 21 months.

Talking to this correspondent, they said they would be forced to launch a protest campaign if they were not paid salaries and their services were not regularized.

They said about 25 daily-wage employees, 21 working under divisional engineer phones, and four under accounts officer, had not been paid their salaries for the last 21 months.

These employees, which include key-punch operators, drivers, linemen, clerks, peons and sweepers, were appointed on daily wages in 1990s.

Talking to this correspondent, Aneesur Rehman (KPO), Jamshed Ali (UDC), Khan Mohammad (KPO) and Kashifur Rehman (KPO) said despite working at the PTCL Sukkur region for 7-8 years they had not been regularized. They said they had not been paid their salary for the last three years.

They showed a copy of a letter issued by the PTCL HQ in which a skilled daily-wage worker’s pay was fixed at Rs200 per day, for semi-skilled at Rs140 and for unskilled at Rs120. However, they said they were not even paid according to this decision.
