Khairpur, June 23: Consumers observed protest against power loadshedding and inflated bills in different parts of interior of Sindh on Monday.
A strike was observed in Pir-jo-Goth, Kingri taluka, on Monday against Hesco officials for resorting to unannounced loadshedding and issuing inflated and detection bills to consumers.
Raising slogans against Hesco officials, about 500 residents after marching through the main roads of the town gathered outside the local Hesco office.
Hesco authorities called police but the protesters forced their way into the office and damaged an official vehicle and furniture.
When contacted, the executive engineer of Hesco, Khairpur division, Noor Ahmad Dayo, said power supply to Pir-jo-Goth was suspended for repair work after an 11,000kv wire was damaged.
Meanwhile, a shutter-down strike was also observed in Piryaloi against Hesco officials on Monday.
NAWABSHAH: Hundreds of consumers took out a procession and staged a sit-in on the National Highway, near Sakrand, on Monday to protest against Hesco for resorting to the unannounced loadshedding and issuing inflated bills.
Enraged protesters broke into the office of the SDO, Hesco, Sakrand, smashed its windowpanes and also burnt tyres on the road outside the office.
SDO Mazhar Qureshi came out of his office and held talks with protesters, saying that
an eight-member committee would consider their demands, after which the consumers dispersed.
LARKANA: The residents of Allahabad locality here on Monday blocked Airport Road for half hour by staging a sit-in and burning tyres on it as a protest over unscheduled power shutdown.
They complained that the area frequently remained without power for 10 to 15 hours.
When contacted, the divisional commercial manager, Hesco, claimed that the power failure was caused by a theft of high-tension wire.
NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Residents of Bhorti and surrounding villages took out a procession here on Sunday against eight-hour-long unannounced loadshedding.
About 200 residents observed a token hunger strike in Moro on Sunday against frequent power breakdowns.
