CHITRAL, June 21: The clerks of different government departments went on hunger strike here on Saturday. They were protesting against the curtailing of budget by the district government.

Hundreds of clerks staged a sit-in in front of the office of the executive district officer of finance and criticized the district government for creating problems for the clerk community.

They also demanded the restoration of the non-development budget.
