PESHAWAR, June 18: The Local Government Employees Federation has urged NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani to save tubewell operators from the unlawful duty hours set by the Town Council-1 Peshawar.

In a statement on Wednesday, LGEF president Sajjad Hussain Jhagra and other office-bearers claimed that the Nazim Town-1 had set a new working shift of 12 hours for tubewell operators, which, he added, was a violation of the labour laws and the ILO Conventions.

They said the Nazim had cancelled their weekly off.
