KARACHI: Robbery suspect shot dead

KARACHI, June 14: An alleged robber was shot dead in a shootout with police in Baghdadi on Saturday.

Police said three robbers entered a goods transport company on Mauripur Road near Mama Hotel in Baghdadi police limits. As they attempted to loot Sanaullah Khan, the police reached the spot and challenged the robbers.

The robbers, instead of surrendering them to police, attempted to run away firing at the police. The police also returned the fire. As a result, an alleged robber, later identified as Tanveer, 25, died on the spot. Two of his accomplices managed to escape.

Police said the alleged robber was hit by a bullet fired by his own accomplices. The body was later shifted to Civil Hospital for autopsy and later kept at Edhi morgue.

Meanwhile, three robberies were committed at various places.

Bandits broke into the house of Mohammad Iqbal in Brigade area, held the family as hostage at gunpoint, collected cash, jewellery and valuables and fled with the loot.

Muggers intercepted Sadaqat Ali in Gulshan-i-Iqbal at gunpoint, and deprived him of his cash and belongings.

Robbers intercepted Mohammad Baqar in Jamshed Quarters and deprived him of his cash and belongings.

STABBED TO DEATH: A middle-aged man was stabbed to death by his cousin in Chawkiwara.

Police said Mohammad Jahangir, 55, was present at a Hyderi restaurant in Sanghore Mohalla, Chawkiwara, when his cousin Yasir reached there and exchanged hot words with him. The arguments between the two provoked Yasir, who stabbed Jahangir to death. Police have arrested Yasir for killing his cousin.

INJURED: A robber stabbed and injured an ASI, Ali Mohammad, when he tried to catch hold of the robber in the Jamshed Quarters police limits.
