Radio Meezan launches live awareness show

PESHAWAR, Dec 10: Radio Meezan, an FM radio station at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA), on Tuesday launched a live ‘talkback show’ with the support of Aitebaar Programme to raise public awareness of security and justice, fundamental rights, violence against women and rights of marginalised segments of the society.

The maiden show went on air at 10:00am with human rights expert and lawyer Dr Adnan and representative of the law department Fasihullah responding to the people’s queries on their right to information.

KPJA Director General Hayat Ali Shah was the chief guest at the launch of the show named ‘Da Meezan Poha (awareness through Meezan).’

Mr Shah praised Aitebaar Programme supported by the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID) for raising public awareness of crucial issues.

Project Leader Rehana Malik said the talkback show was meant to promote the people’s understanding of security and justice issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with a specific reference to criminal justice system.

“The radio programme will help the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa understand their rights and responsibilities towards the security and judicial sector,” he said.

The project leader said the ‘talkback show’ would provide platform to the people to put queries to panelists regarding security and judicial sector.

He said the panel would comprise subject specialists and officials concerned, who would help citizens exercise their fundamental right to information, seek information concerning their safety and security.

Ms Rehana said the hour-long show would be aired once a week on every Tuesday at 10:00am.

“This is the joint production of Radio Meezan FM 96.6 and Aitebaar Programme with the support of DFID,” she said.
