LAHORE, Dec 9: The English sire, Assassi, is rated on the top in respect of performance of stallions progenies in races on the Stallions Statistics Table for the year 2013.

According to figures based on the races won at the Lahore racecourse by progenies of different sires, Assassi, a son of Danzig-Northern Dancer stands out as the leading progenitor with 15 victories by his progenies.

His son Denzaro alone won seven races including the Pakistan Derby 2013 triumph.

This is the second consecutive year Assassi has won the distinction on top of the listing among sires engaged in breeding thoroughbred horses.

Last year Assassi’s son Assassin won eight races including the Pakistan Derby 2012 to put Assassi on top of the sires’ rating.

Engaged in stud duty at Baig stud farm near Lahore, Assassi’s progenies also heads the list in respect of total prize money won over the period.

The progenies of other progenitors, who performed well in 2013 are: Dubai Prince and Francesco Guarde (Sardar Nur Hussain Stud), Blue Stone, Re Play (Qadir Abad stud), Putra (Noon stud) and Conflict, Tora Bora (Huzaifa stud).—Aftab Gilani
