LAHORE, June 10: Punjab Chief Secretary Hafeez Akhtar Randhawa has censured Lahore Museum former acting director Dr Anjum Rehmani and exonerated four other employees of the charge of the theft of five rare manuscripts, official sources told Dawn on Tuesday.

The chief secretary has given his verdict after a personal hearing of Dr Rehmani and research officer Shoaib Ahmad, security officers Ghulam Ali and Salamat Ali and assistant Azhar Javed.

Museum director Dr Liaquat Niazi had conducted the inquiry and had recommended dismissal of the five museum employees, sources said. The inquiry was first given to former secretary of education Sibtain Fazle Halim but he could not complete it because of preoccupation with his official work. —Staff Reporter
