LAHORE, June 6: The Ministry of Women Development, Social Welfare and Special Education’s National Trust for the Disabled (NTD) will launch the ‘National policy for the rehabilitation of disabled persons’ at Alhamra on Saturday (today).
The policy will be launched during a day-long event, which will have two sessions to be presided over by Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool and Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, respectively.
The morning session will include a formal inaugural session, launching of a theme song, a documentary on disabilities, magic and puppet shows, skits and tableaux by special children and a song by Central Model School students.
In the evening session, the federal secretary to ministry of women development, social welfare and special education, Parveen Qadir Agha, will present the national policy for the rehabilitation of disabled persons followed by a musical evening and interactive talk with special persons and parents.
An exhibition of the items prepared by special children will be held simultaneously at the Alhamra Art Gallery.
A competition of abilities, called Abilympics, will also be held among 150 selected children.
