PPP MNA’s bail plea rejected

KARACHI, Oct 24: An anti-terrorism court on Thursday dismissed a request of the Pakistan Peoples Party MNA Shahjahan Baloch for bail in the Arshad Pappu murder case.

The lawmaker booked for his alleged involvement in the Arshad Pappu murder case had moved the ATC, seeking bail in the case.

Judge Saleem Raza Baloch of the ATC-III dismissed the bail application after hearing arguments from both sides.

Arshad Pappu, his brother Yasir Arafat and his associate Juma Shera were killed on March 16 allegedly by chief of the banned Peoples Amn Committee Uzair Jan Baloch, his brother Zubair Baloch and some other suspects.

Opposing the bail plea, the prosecutor said no political involvement was visible in the registration of the case.

Four MQM men remanded

Meanwhile, another anti-terrorism court on Thursday remanded four Muttahida Qaumi Movement activists allegedly involved in cases of illegal arms and explosives in police custody for 14 days.

A unit chief of the MQM organisational structure, Abrar, Mohammad Adil, Irfan Zaidi and Tahseen were produced before Judge Khalida Yaseen of the ATC-II.—PPI
