GUJRANWALA, June 3: The local chamber of commerce and industry officials on Tuesday protested against an amendment to the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, under which the commissioner had been empowered to seize any industrial unit’s accounts and computer records and other documents.
At a meeting presided over by GCCI President Khwaja Tahir Hassan, they said the businessmen had little knowledge of the ordinance amendment to which would be enforced from July 1.
The businessmen alleged that the government had been creating problems for them.
DIG: The range police will constitute advisory committees throughout the division to fight crime, according to DIG Malik Muhammad Iqbal.
The DIG said at a meeting held at his office on Tuesday that people’s cooperation was necessary to eradicate crime.
He urged the police officers to accommodate the complainants. He warned that inefficient and corrupt police officials would be taken to task.
