MULTAN, Oct 5: District Coordination Officer Syed Gulzar Husain Shah on Saturday directed the authorities concerned to demolish the houses and shops of those owners who were creating hindrance in the completion of Old Shujabad Road flyover despite the government had compensated them for acquiring their land.

Presiding over a meeting to review the pace of work on various flyovers of the city, the DCO also directed redesigning of Chowk Kumharanwala flyover. He said that the citizens were suffering due to delay in the completion of the project and warned the officials concerned that further delay would not be tolerated.

He said the compensation of Rs500 million had been paid to the affected but they were reluctant to demolish their shops and houses.

“All the shops and houses from Double Phattak to Cotton Research Center of those owners who had been paid compensation should be demolished on Monday (tomorrow).

He directed officials of the Revenue Department and National Highway Authority to ensure their presence. He said a DSP rank police officer with required police force would also be present during the operation.

He expressed his displeasure over Mepco failure to relocate 80 electricity polls from Old Shujabad Road and asked its management to do the needful at the earliest.
