QUETTA, Dec 12: The Balochistan minister for local councils and rural development, Agha Abdul Qadir Baluch, has said that the provincial government will complete all the mega projects within the stipulated period.

Talking to newsmen here the other day, he dispelled the impression that the government might not implement the mega projects due the recent developments in Afghanistan.

Mr Baluch said the government was making a sizable investment to build the necessary infrastructure, supplement the facilities needed for the district governments, besides the long and short-term development plans in the province.

The government would be building Kacchi Canal to irrigate over 600,000 acres of highly fertile land, where cotton of fine quality could be grown, he said, adding that the country could earn almost half a billion dollars from export of cotton from Kacchi-Sibi plains.
