PESHAWAR, June 2: Federal Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Abdul Sattar Lalika has said that Employees’ Old Age Benefit Institution (EOBI) should work more efficiently to provide relief to the labour class of the country.
Speaking during a visit to the newly-constructed building of EOBI in Hayatabad here on Sunday, the minister ordered shifting of the regional and zonal offices of EOBI to the new building. The building constructed over two kanals has cost Rs10 million
The minister said that the EOBI should work closely with companies and corporations for registration to bring more workers into the net of the pension benefits.
Briefing the minister on this occasion, EOBI zonal chief Syed Iqbal Haider Zaidi said that at present about 48,000 pensioners were benefiting from the services of the organization. He said that the target of collection set for the current year, which was Rs26 million, had been raised by 15-17 per cent and the new target was Rs33.5 million, which showed the EOBI’s progress.
