ISLAMABAD, Sept 13: An accountability court on Friday sent former chairman of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Tauqir Sadiq to Adiala jail on 14 days judicial remand in a corruption case.

Tauqir Sadiq remained in physical custody of the investigation team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for 69 days since he was arrested in July this year.

He has been accused of causing Rs82 billion loss to national exchequer but on August 2, 2013, the NAB prosecution, however, alleged that the arbitrary decision of Sadiq caused an additional Rs26 billion loss to the government exchequer.

On Friday, Sardar Asmatullah, counsel for Tauqir Sadiq, filed two applications in the accountability court seeking allocation of ‘A’ class to his client in the jail and for providing him necessary security.

Accountability Judge Mohammad Bashir, however, remarked that the allocation of A class category would be discussed later on and adjourned the matter for 14 days. — A Reporter
