LARKANA, May 26: A monitoring team of the decentralized elementary education project (DEEP) has unearthed irregularities in the distribution of free textbooks among the girl students of class sixth, seventh and eighth in the district.

The DEEP had provided these textbooks to be distributed free amongst the girl students of the middle schools. In the Garilo Middle School, a survey conducted by the DEEP revealed, that Sindhi language books were distributed among the students instead the Urdu language. In some schools books were seen piled up without distribution, the survey team observed.

A team member said in the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Larkana, 200 books and in Mirokhan 3,100 books were found undistributed.

While the Government Girls Middle School, Ratodero, was given 300 extra books.

PMA: The Pakistan Medical Association, Larkana, has taken exception to the decision of getting salary bills of doctors countersigned by Nazims concerned.

President, Larkana PMA, Dr Ikram Tunio, said how come the Nazims could countersign doctors’ salary vouchers since many of them were not acquainted with the rules and regulation of drawing salaries.

The executive district officer, in a letter circulated to all taluka health officers, said pay bills duly countersigned by the Nazim, where the health facility is located, will only be entertained.
