MIANWALI, May 26: A latest telemetry system, installed at the Chashma barrage to monitor water supply, started functioning on Monday.

After its installation, Indus River System Authority had called officials from all the provinces to monitor water supply at Chashma.

According to Wapda authorities, the latest telemetry system is being operated on solar energy.

Acting on reports of water theft, they said, this system had been installed at 22 points in the country to check crime. It will monitor the water supply according to settled quota of the provinces and round-the-clock supply from various points will be in the knowledge of each province.

At Chashma Barrage, transmitters are being installed at the gates of the Chashma Jhelum Link Canal and the Chashma Right Bank Canal.
