PESHAWAR, May 25: The Islami Jamiat Tulaba has welcomed the government’s announcement about establishment of a university and medical college for women, but said it must translate its words into action.
In a press release issued here Saturday, the IJT’s provincial chief Shahab Hussain said the government should also solve the recognition problem of the Gomal Medical College, D.I. Khan, and Saidu Medical College, Swat, to end the prevalent unrest among their students.
Mr Shahab also expressed concern over the self-financing scheme at the Malaknad, Hazara and Kohat universities, and demanded an immediate end to it.
He also reminded the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government of its promise about the restoration of student unions, and asked it to fulfil it because it was the democratic right of the students to have their unions.
Admissions should be given at the educational institutions on merit, he demanded.
The IJT chief said they had pinned great hopes on the MMA government for the resolution of all the problems faced by the students community.
