NEW DELHI, May 22: A Pakistani trade delegation is expected to arrive here on a two-day visit from June 27-28, Press Trust of India said on Thursday.
It said the visit, to be organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), would include one-on-one business meetings to facilitate actual business deals.
“The delegation’s visit has been finalized and co-president of India-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour will head the team of 40-60 members,” PTI quoted FICCI sources as saying.
The delegation would also discuss macro-level trade issues, including unofficial trade and infrastructure problems, while looking into the reasons for low volumes of bilateral trade, the report said.
They would also make recommendations to the two governments for the creation of a conducive policy environment to promote business.
There would be a mini-exhibition of key Indian products “to give a feel of potential to the delegation and to convince the governments of India and Pakistan to lift the ban on several items,” the sources said.
“Due to space constraint, the Pakistani team will not be able to showcase their machinery and other such big products,” the sources said.
